Year 4 Fauvism

The Year 4 students have been looking at a new art style called Fauvism. This is when the colours are exaggerated or unusual when compared to what they would normally be.
After responding to Andre Derain's 'Charring Cross Bridge, London', the students identified and outlined lines and shapes in landscape photographs. They used these to draw their own simple landscapes. They then painted features of their landscape in the Fauvism style. They revised colour mixing techniques, the use of different paint brushes and brush strokes to create texture within their masterpieces.
