Fedro Faces in Clay

Year 6 classes have been responding to works by Pablo Picasso.
They then looked at a more contemporary artist, Thomas Fedro, who uses similar art styles when creating his artworks.
The students identified his art style influences, including:
Abstract Art - artwork that is not realistic,
Cubism  - Artwork that is made from shapes (particularly geometric shapes), and
Pop Art - Art work that uses popular culture as its subject and is generally represented in bright colours.
Creating shapes that represent the typical features of Fedro's paintings, the students created slab portraits out of clay. They attached them to a pinch pot and, once fired, added colour, using oil pastels and black ink.
