Year 1

It's always a great art lesson when it's a messy one! 😬
Year 3 to 6 classes created cover pages for their Visual Art Diaries while reviewing the Elements of Art and art theory, some art techniques and the Art room rules.

Year 3
Created 'Imaginative Creatures' by mixing the Primary Colours to make Secondary and Tertiary colours in an Abstract form. They added lines and implied texture to the colour patterns they saw to form their creature.

Year 4
Created 'Abstract Colour Etchings' by mixing the Primary Colours to make Secondary and Tertiary colours and then scratching(etching) into the wet paint to create multiple line types and patterns. Some chose to keep their artwork symmetrical while others enjoyed a more abstract design (asymmetrical).

Year 5
Created 'Positive and Negative Abstracts' by laying strips of recycled paper across their page in a chosen design and then purposefully mixing Secondary and Tertiary colours using only the Primary colours. The lines were removed to reveal positive spaces of colour and negative spaces where the paper lines once were.

Year 6
Created 'Snowflake Colour Wheels' by selecting the Primary and Secondary Colours to create a simple Colour Wheel, folding and then cutting Geometric and Organic shapes from the paper. Each 'snowflake' was unique and create it's own positive and negative shapes.
