The students of Room 12 enjoyed a very exciting art lesson when local artist and sculptor, Warren Taylor helped them discover hidden monsters in their clay.

Warren explained a bit about what he does when creating his sculptures and how you can turn anything into a monster by exaggerating different features. The children kneaded and molded their piece of clay until they saw the start of their monster or an idea of how to create them. They then used clay tools and the score and slip technique to add details to their monster sculptures.

No two monsters were alike and Warren was full of helpful hints and ideas on how the students could develop and improve their creations.

He even made his own little monster in the time it took everyone to pack up.

It was a treat to have such a talented artist come in and teach the children a bit about his craft and passion and we thank Warren for taking the time to help us get creative in the art room.
