Melanie Hava Inspired Butterflies
The Year Four classes have used the gorgeous artworks of Australian Aboriginal Contemporary Artists, Melanie Hava to inspire these fabulous creations.
They revised the art element 'Space', using background, middle ground and foreground to create depth in their artworks.
Students also looked at overlapping and size, additional techniques of the element space, which also help to create depth in 2D creations.
These butterfly artworks are mixed media meaning they have been created using multiple materials or medium. Students used water colour paint for the background, acrylic paint for the middle ground and oil pastels and marker on the butterflies in the foreground.

Melanie Hava is influenced by both her mother's Aboriginal culture and her Father's Austrian culture when creating her artworks. Students used her style of patterns and lines as inspiration within their butterfly wings by blending oil pastels in analogous colours and then etching (scratching) organic line and shape patterns into the oil pastel.
