Optical Illusions Using Straight and Curved Lines!

Year 5 students have been looking back at our most simple Element of Art - Line. Many of our art pieces start with a simple line and it is what we do with that line that creates our masterpieces.

Lines can be used to add texture - the way something feels - this is called implied texture. Lines can be used to express emotions and convey information to our audience. They can also be used to create illusions that trick the eye into thinking the artwork is doing something it actually isn't.

Using only straight and curved lines the Year 5 students are creating 3D hands that look like they are coming out of their page.
