Weeks 3 & 4
Line, Shape, Space and a whole lot more!

Year 4 students have been revising all the tricks and techniques artists use to create the illusion of depth in their artworks. There are six main techniques used when creating the art element, space. Overlapping, size, placement, colour and value, focus and detail and perspective. These landscapes all began with the same instructions but as we all have different art ideas they are all unique and show the individual creativity of each little artist.

Year 6 students selected various flora from around our school to arrange their own still life. They looked at balance in the design using height and width and overlapping their pieces to create their perfect arrangement. They then used their understanding of contour drawing and observation to draw their arrangement. We are hopping to add value - light and dark by shading areas to make their objects appear 3D and eventually add colour to a copy of our drawings.
