Year 1

Thursday 4 March 2021

Welcome back to all our budding little artists and a warm welcome to our Year 1 classes and new students.

Visual Art Teachers

Ms Liz Agar and myself, Miss Carly Randall will once again be teaching your creative children in Visual Arts for 2021. Liz Will be taking the Year 1, 2 and 4 classes this year on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Morning. I will be teaching the Year 3, 5 and 6 classes on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Activities and Experiences

Visual Art classes will once again run as a double session each fortnight. This enables students to have an uninterrupted amount of time to design and create their artworks.

Students will have opportunities to explore ideas, experiences, observations and imagination to create visual artworks that will be displayed within the school. They will use the elements and principles of art design while experimenting with a range of materials, techniques and processes.

Students will also be provided with opportunities to participate in community art events and competitions throughout the year.

All students are required to have an art shirt to protect their school uniform and an A3 display folder to store their artworks in.

Visual Art class awards will be presented at each assembly. The most deserving class will be awarded a certificate and hold the trophy in their class until the next assembly.

Lunchtime Art

Lunchtime Art will be held on Fridays this year. Children are more than welcome to come in and finish things off from class, create their own artworks or work collaboratively on larger projects.

We have already begun to get creative and enjoy our lunchtime art sessions.

Art Requests

We really appreciate donations to the art room and have been able to create some fantastic art pieces thanks to your donations.

This year we are asking for your empty cereal boxes. These can be cut to use as a ‘canvas’, a traceable template or even a tool to paint with.

The Arts are an excellent medium for children to express themselves creatively. Liz and myself are looking forward to helping the students develop their skills and create some amazing masterpieces.

Warm regards,

Miss Carly Randall and Ms Liz Agar
