Native Floral Still Life!

Some of the year 5 classes have collected various flora from around our school and have used them to arrange some interesting still life compositions. They looked at line, shape, texture and value (light and dark) within their arrangement and drew what they observed. Their original drawing will be photocopied and later they will be adding colour using water colour pencils and focusing on blending colours of similar hues.

Kiki Smith Inspired Scratch Foam Peacock Prints!

Year 3 classes have been learning about artist Kiki Smith and her etching titled, 'Peacock'. Students responded to her art work after exploring the interactive Museum of Modern Art in New York and learning more about Kiki and the printing technique she used. They then used multiple peacock images to design their own image for printing. The design was gently drawn onto scratch foam using charcoal first and then scratch over using etching tools. Several prints were made from the scratch foam design by evenly rolling ink over the foam and then printing it onto the paper.
