Year One classes have used all the things they have learnt about colour mixing, texture and painting to create some gorgeous under the sea paintings.

They have also had tons of fun creating beautifully decorated ornaments out of clay. These were fired in the kiln and then painted in bright colours and covered with glitter.

Year Two classes have finished their adorable clay birds using a pinch pot as the head and body. They painted them carefully using a paint brush to suit what the size of what they were painting. Pipe cleaners and beads were added for the bird's legs.

Year Three classes have created stunning abstract artworks using geometric and organic shapes. They were inspired by artworks by Henri Matisse. Matisse drew with scissors, creating beautiful paper collage art pieces. The Year Three's also looked at the five patterns in nature and used them to add their organic shapes to their creations.

Year Four and Five classes have had a mix of artworks they have been creating or finishing off. Many have been working on their one point perspective drawings. These type of drawings have a point on the horizon line called a diminishing point where everything seems to disappear. This gives the art work depth and looks like you can walk into it. They have also been developing their watercolour painting, blending the colours to create sunsets and more realistic hues.

Some students have been creating shadows (value) in their drawing using charcoals and smudging and blending to create light and dark. The clay fish bowls have been painted with a focus on adding tones, tints and shades (value) and a piece of wire attached to hang them. They look incredible.

It has been a fantastic year of art awards, achievements and brilliant creations! I am looking forward to next year already and can't wait to watch each student explore and learn about different art techniques and find the one that they enjoy creating the most.
