Welcome back to all our little budding artists and a warm welcome to our new students and Year 1 classes.
We have had a brilliant start to 2017 and classes have already begun designing and creating artworks in preparation for our Harmony Day art installation later in the term.
Activities and Experiences
Visual Art classes will continue to run once a fortnight as a double session, enabling the students to have an extended period of time in which to design and create their artworks.
Students will have opportunities to explore ideas, experiences, observations and imagination to create visual artworks that will be displayed within the school. They will use the elements and principles of art design while experimenting with different materials, techniques and processes.
Students will also be provided with opportunities to participate in community art events and competitions throughout the year.
The art room is open Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime for students to pursue their own art projects or collaborate with others in teacher directed activities.
I look forward to helping inspire the individual and collaborative artworks the children create.
Visual Art class awards will be presented each assembly. The most deserving class will be awarded a certificate and hold the trophy in their class until the next assembly.
Parent Help
It is wonderful to have parents involved with the children's learning. You are very welcome to come and join in the fun during Visual Art lessons. Please fill out the appropriate paper work at the front office if you wish to help out. Please also come and see me as to a suitable session for you to come along to.
I know that within Wattle Grove we have many talented community members. If any family member has a passion for a particular art technique, I would love you to share your experience and knowledge with our students. This may simply be a one off lesson or a project over several weeks. It may be with your child's class exclusively or with several classes of an appropriate level. If you are interested, please come and see me and we can discuss and organise something that suits.
We are also always looking for recyclable things you find around the house to use in the art room or to upcycle and create new art works from. We would greatly appreciate any donations such as;
- containers (ice-cream, takeaway, yoghurt, butter etc...)
- Cereal boxes
- plastic cutlery
- material and wool scraps
- any craft materials you no longer need
- anything else you think we may be able to use - just come and ask if you're not sure.
The Arts are an excellent medium for children to express themselves creatively and I look forward to assisting them develop their skills and create some amazing masterpieces.
Warm regards,
Miss Carly Randall
