Year Three art is Crazy!

The year Three classes have been having so much fun creating their 'Crazy Hair Portraits'. They had to pose with a funny face which was printed, cut out and glued to backing paper. Then, using bellows and watered down paint, they drizzled the mix starting from the top of their head. It was a bit messy shaking the paper to get the paint to run and create the hair effect but the final piece of art was worth it. Plus most of the students will tell you,
'messy art is fun art!'

The Olympics and our own Faction Carnival has been the inspiration behind the Year Three scratch foam prints. Students had to draw a design and then scratch it into the scratch foam. They had to check it was deep enough to create a clear, solid print. The foam was covered in paint using rollers and then printed onto coloured card. It was a little tricky making sure the letters and numbers were written backwards as the prints are always in reverse. With each print the children evaluated the scratching and amount of paint to improve on their last print.
