What a fantastic start we have had to our Term 4.
All classes have been responding to art and creating a small reproduction of the artwork they have been analysing.
Year One classes decided whether they liked the artwork or not and gave reasons why.
Year Two classes identified the elements of art and how they were used to create the artwork.
Year Three classes gave suggestions as to what the artist was trying to communicate with their art and why they thought that.
Year Four and Five classes identified the purpose of the artwork and then described the elements of art that were used to communicate the artist's meaning and ideas.
Year Six classes identified whether the artist's purpose was to express a feeling, state an opinion or give us information. They then described the art elements and how they were used to convey the artist's message and ideas.
Several Year Five classes have been creating fish bowls using clay. They are focussing on their score and slip technique and using the various clay tools to create texture and sculpt their creations.
Year Two classes are learning how to create a pinch pot out of clay. The pinch pots are then turned into little birds using the clay tools and score and slip technique.
Lunchtime artists have been extremely busy painting their designs onto our foam blocks. Our first block features a colourful jigsaw puzzle with words that the children feel represent our community at Wattle Grove Primary. It also has bright speech bubbles that say hello in many different languages to represent our multicultural school. When finished we will display the collaborative art piece around the school for all to enjoy. We have many ideas already for how we are going to decorate our next block.
A massive 'Thank you' to AJ Forrest who kindly donated the foam blocks.
