James Rizzi Busy Cityscapes!

Year 4 and 5 classes were very motivated and enthusiastic when creating these brilliant James Rizzi city scapes. After studying many artworks of James Rizzi, they used his simple almost cartoon-like style of drawing to create their cityscape. They used overlapping and foreground, middle ground and background to create depth in their drawings. Using line and shape, they drew faces and patterns on each building to give them personality and painted them in beautiful bright colours. The results were vibrant and happy which is the effect James Rizzi intended to have in his works.

Textured Landscapes!

Year 2 classes have been looking at texture – how things feel. They learned that we can have real texture or we can create things that look like they have texture. They first drew simple landscapes using line and shape. Then they decided on the colours suitable for each feature of their landscapes. Using wax crayons and texture plates and items they did wax crayon rubbings they filled their landscapes with colourful textures. Some even tried using purples and blues to show objects in the distance like mountains and hills.
